Nestled in the heart of South western Ontario is a gem of a community that offers all the benefits of a small town lifestyle and the conveniences of bigger cities. Here you’ll find first-class recreational facilities, golf courses and parks, as well as a wide range of programs and services offered by the county to support the communities.

With a population of 38,066 as per the 2016 census, the county’s population centres are Stratford, Listowel, Mitchell, Milverton, and St. Mary’s.

Perth is simply divided into four municipalities:

  • Municipality of North Perth
  • Township of Perth East
  • Municipality of West Perth
  • Township of Perth South

With a population of more than 13,000, the Municipality of North Perth is the County’s fastest growing community, offering the best of both urban and rural life. The Municipality was incorporated in 1998, joining together urban and rural areas to create communities appealing to both home and business owners.

In the northeast portion of the County is the Township of Perth East where proximity to Stratford, New Hamburg, Tavistock, St Marys, Mitchell and Listowel combined with a diverse landscape make the ideal place for businesses in a variety of sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and technology.

Also incorporated in 1998, the Municipality of West Perth combines the Townships Logan, Hibbert, Fullarton and Mitchell and is home to 8,900 residents. Located just 30 minutes from London, West Perth is located on the shores of the Thames River and has restored more than 65 acres of wetlands that are home to a variety of species.

An amalgamation, also made in 1998, of the Township of Downie and Township of Blanshard, the Township of Perth South is one with rich history. Home to the ninth Prime Minister, Arthur Meighen, it’s also where the first Eaton’s store was opened. Today, the Township is home to more than 3,800 residents and 80 businesses.
