A favourite destination among locals and visitors seeking tranquility and relaxation, Pioneer Park has beautiful homes, access to recreational areas, exceptional cuisine and modern amenities in a friendly, relaxed, local environment.
A picturesque region steeped in Waterloo history dating back to pre World War I times, Pioneer Park is part of the Doon region in Ontario. The area is home to recreational areas such as the Homer Watson Park, a tranquil park popular among artists and photographers for its beautiful river and forest scenery with several trails including a 5.1 km looped trail that features a lake. The park is named after one of its most famous residents, Homer Watson. Homer Watson was a distinguished fine arts Canadian painter, born in Doon. A self-taught artist, Watson became well known for his landscape paintings. His former home in the hamlet of Doon became the Doon School of Fine Arts and is now a National Historic Site in Canada.
The Doon Heritage Village located in the former Doon village that is now part of Kitchener, Ontario, beside the Homer Watson Park, is a 60-acre living history village with 22 buildings that shares the history of the Waterloo Region back in 1914.
The area offers urban amenities while still retaining the friendliness and relaxed vibe of a smaller community, thus attracting both young and old residents for its range of restaurants, entertainment, shopping, retail and businesses.
